Out in the Mountains editor, Barbara Dozetos, was recently named President of the New England Chapter of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association. She succeeds former OITM editor, Fred Kuhr, who is now news editor of inNewsweekly. This marks the first time someone outside the Boston area has been selected as the chapter’s president. The NLGJA was founded in 1990 to work within the news industry to foster fair and accurate coverage of lesbian and gay issues, and oppose newsroom bias toward gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender people and all other minorities.

Ryan Reyes and George DeCarlo of Berkeley Heights, NH were joined in civil union on August 17, 2000. We were licensed in Putney and united on a hilltop in Dummerston overlooking the river valley to Brattleboro as a backdrop with Justice of the Peace Alan Blood officiating. After our stay in Putney, we celebrated in Provincetown. Our thanks to the people of Vermont for their struggle and our ability to join in.
