VT CARES Its not too late to register! Get out the bike shorts and dust off your helmet. Champ Ride 2001 is almost here! Vermont CARES third annual bike fundraiser will be held on June 9, 2001, kicking off at the Kingsland Bay State Park in Ferrisburg. It is a great combination of the natural beauty of Vermont in the summertime and a demanding route for riders of all skill levels. Riders have been training for our routes of 100, 50, 25 or 12 miles that weave throughout the scenic Champlain Valley. This year we have riders from Colorado, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and every corner of Vermont from Brattleboro to St. Albans. All of them are joining together to ride as well as to make a difference in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The Champ Ride committee has worked hard since last summer to make this years ride a very memorable one. Once again the Ride will feature a wonderful picnic prepared by the New England Culinary Institute and there will be some new improvements to the day. Thanks in advance to our corporate sponsors: ABC22, Agouron, Ben & Jerrys and Blue Cross Blue Shield and to everyone else whos worked so hard to make this a great event. So come join us for a great day this summer on the roads of Vermont. If you are interested in riding, being on the planning committee for next years ride, or supporting a rider, please call Emily or Kendall at (802) 863-2437 or go to our website at www.vtcares.org.
VT Pride Summertime has arrived, the mountain air is full of song, and June promises to be a wonderful month to come out and celebrate our individuality and community. Pride VT has organized a diverse calendar of events hosted by community groups and organizations around the state (see the insert in this issue for details). We truly hope everyone has a chance to learn, celebrate and come together for these events. Pride VT is greatly looking forward to the Rally, Parade and Waterfront Festival in Burlington on June 16. Volunteers for traffic control and cleaning up the site are much needed, though. If you would like to participate and can help out, please contact Brian Cina at 859-9238 and come to our volunteer meeting June 5 from 7-9pm at the Multi Generational Community Center, 241 No. Winooski Ave, Burlington. Thank you and enjoy the sunshine! | |
