In the early morning of February 4th, fire destroyed a house in Johnston County, NC. The gay couple who owned the home had been the victim of anti-gay harassment for over a year. The couple were not at home when the fire occurred and are uninjured.

The Johnston County Sheriff, Steve Bizzell, told reporters that the fire is being investigated arson, and is not related to any other suspicious fires in the county.

The previous incidents included an anti-gay slur written on the house, a letter with anti-gay language was left in the mailbox, and a car parked in the home's garage had its tires slashed.

The sheriff's department has no suspects. The couple have lost everything and The Red Cross is supplying them with food and clothes.
